My 'Honest' Review

Well, it HAS been a while hasn't it? Thought I'd pop in for a quick honest review of well... "Honest." Yep, that's right, the brand created/promoted by Jessica Alba as being natural and environmentally friendly. I signed up for one of those Discovery Kits with samples. Here is what I received:

1 Pack of Honest Wipes (10-Pack)
1 Pack of Diapers (7-Count)
1 Box of Samples (Hand Soap, Healing Balm, Face+Body Lotion, Shampoo+Body Wash, Honest Multi-Surface Cleaner)

Well first off, I'd like to mention they will AUTOMATICALLY start charging you for the full price bundle(s) if you don't cancel within 7 days of receiving your sample DIscovery Kit. That, in and of itself, is a bit deceptive of the company. Not very honest for a company called "Honest" if you ask me. If I wasn't already aware of this due to my internet prowess, I would have probably found a not-so-nice special surprise charge on my statement. AND, you can only cancel through their customer service - which took nearly 15 minutes to get to an actual person. Not only that, but the guy offered to cancel my subscription and if I changed my mind in a couple months, I can feel free to do so - what he neglected to mention was that after two months, my card was set to be automatically charged. I know my way around these scamme... -er- ...subscription package type deals so I politely declined that option and demanded he outright cancel any and all subscriptions I would have been swindled into. I was utterly stunned a company that tries so hard to project a wholesome image can have such unsavory practices.

All subscription-related issues aside, the products themselves were mediocre. The diapers, although cute with their various patterns, had the texture, shape and absorbancy strongly resembling those of Earth's Best diapers (rating 3/5). I'd also like to mention that I did not receive the patterns I requested. I certainly hope their subscribers have better experiences with receiving what they requested - especially considering what they are paying for these.

The wipes were meh and the various travel size samples were very similar to Seventh Generation products. Overall, I don't think I would ever be an actual subscriber of "The Honest Company" brand of products. Their deceitful business practices alone are enough for me to run away from their deliciously cute strawberry-patterned diapers.
