July 2014 Citrus Lane (5 yo boy) Box Review

Yep, I decided to give Citrus Lane another chance after several disappointing boxes. I got suckered into a half-off subscription, of course. BUT! At half off, I'm willing to take my chances... I have been pleasantly surprised on a few occasions.

Here is what we got in our July box for a 5 year old boy. My son's actually 7, but the oldest subscription package is for 5-year olds. Mehhh

Leh packing list~

Leh toys~

All ze stuff~

Tree Hopper Toys Match Stacks
(Retail: ~$20)
Ehhhh... Not very cute and just very meh. Wasn't too thrilled about this item. A simple memory game type of toy made of all natural wood discs - made in America. Very mediocre. Only redeeming qualities were the "all-natural" and "made in America" aspects of it.

Purlisse Pur-Protect Moisturizers SPF 30, 1.7 Ounce
(Retail: ~$21.58)

My initial thought, "Oh, wonderful... a dollar sample of sunscreen... greeeeat..." After googling this product, I swear my eyes were about to pop out of their sockets. $21.58 for this tiny bottle of sunscreen? ORLY?? I know people who wouldn't be able to cover an entire leg with this amount of sunscreen. XD I had to do a double take to see if I read the size properly. But, in all seriousness, I will likely gift this to someone else or pack it with my travel packs. It apparently has excellent reviews on Amazon though. Can't really vouch for the quality as I'm obviously too scared to open something the size of my pinky worth ~$22. =_=

GoGo SqueeZ Applesauce, AppleCinnamon
(Retail: ~$0.60 / pouch)

Ok, I love GoGoSqueez pouches. But, I've been there. Done that. I usually expect an unknown snack product waiting to be discovered through my Citrus Lane boxes, but GoGo Squeez are already super mainstream. This was also meh for me.

John Deere Tractor Rev Rumblers Monster Treads
(Retail: ~$15.97)

Saved the best for last. Love, love LOVE this item from my July box. The ONLY item I was actually thrilled about. A pretty good sized toy for a Citrus Lane box. The tractor is super cute, sturdy and acts like a pull-back car - except you pull forward. ^_^ This product alone made the subscription box worth every penny.

Overall...

I thought this box was a pretty sad one - very lackluster. At least I ended up with one item I liked - the John Deere tractor. A pretty good value all-in-all as when you calculate the Amazon prices, the box would retail for $58.15.

Just an FYI, it did come with a little card that included a code for Free Shipping with no minimum on next purchase at citruslane.com. The code is generic: SUMMERSHIP. The fine print: Not valid for purchase of Mystery Boxes or with citruslane.com gift cards. Promotion code expires August 31, 2014. One user per customer.
